Replacing Damaged Oil-Cooler
As we were dismantling the old setup I noticed that one of my oil-coolers had seen better days. I was bad and made me think that the oil flow and temperature would not be at it's optimum level when the engine was running. I found a replacement one which I bought and swapped them over.
Trust 94mm Mid-pipe and Rear Box
One thing I needed to make sure with my new setup was that the exhaust system needed to be very free flowing. I was looking for a bigger exhaust system and a Trust system came up for sale, it comprised of a 94mm Mid-pipe and Rear box. I went and picked it up straight away as I knew this would be perfect for what I needed, more air-flow = more power!

Dismantle
Now I have all my bits and pieces together it's time to start the dismantling of the current turbo and intercooler setup. All work was done by my very good friend Laeeq with the occasional helping hand from me... He helped me get the brackets for the Intercooler and the braided lines/ water lines for the new turbo. First thing was to get the old turbo, maniold and downpipe off!

New Turbo
Had a long think about what kind of power I wanted and the characterisitcs I wanted from the car. I eventually decided to go for a Garrett T60-1 BB with a rear housing of 1.3 a/r . This turbo will give me good spool up time and over 400rwhp, which is exactly what I wanted. The good thing is that this turbo will fit on my HKS T4 manifold, all I will need to get made up will be the downpipe. It will make full boost from an estimated 3500 rpm and continue giving power all the way to redline 9000 rpm. The large rear housing will allow high boost and continous power from mid to high rev range. One thing my old T04e lacked was making power after 65oo rpm, it just felt flat after that, this turbo should hopefully fix that problem.

Japshow Finale 2007
What an excellent day.... loads of cars, stands, people and more importantly good drag racing...
Today I thought "last show of the year I HAVE to see what she can do".... So I ran the RX7 up the drag strip for the first time ever, was a bit nervous when lining up but was more focused as I approached the starting line.... First run I took it easy with my launch and ran on low boost 0.8bar. I got a 12.8 @ 114 which I felt was okay... Second time I put the boost up to 0.9 bar, again I took it easy on the launch as I didn't want to break anything. I managed a 12.8 again but with a terminal of 115 mph... For the final run I kept the boost at 0.9 but launched a bit harder and got a 12.7 with an terminal of 115 mph, have to say I'm quite happy with that...
I think I need to adjust my suspension, tyres etc for future runs and see what I get... Hoping for low 12's on the T04e turbo...

Shadow Grenwich Meet
After talking with the boyz, we decided to do a Shadowz car meet in Grenwich... Everyone was soon on their phones passing on the info to their friends... The turn out was pretty impressive about 25-30 cars in total ranging from Impreza, Civics, Skylines and RX7's. I did a little run with my friend's 380 bhp Impreza STI, I was running about 350 bhp.

Rotorstock 4 2007
This was the 4th Rotorstock event held by MazdaRotaryClub but the first one at Santa Pod... Was a great day with quite a few RX7, RX8 and other rotary powered cars. There was also a good turnout of various Japanese cars. I was planning on running the car on the drag strip but forgot my license at home, oh well maybe next time...

Honda Bluewater Meet
Got news from my Honda boyz about a Bluewater meet... Since I've always found these meets good, I thought it would be a good opportunity to take the RX7 out so I met up with them and made our way there... As usual some nice Honda's around, plus I was able to get some nice pics of my car from an excellent photographer...
